Wellington Square is committed to sustainability for retailers and customers, employing innovative systems and thoughtful measures to minimize our environmental impact. We are proud to have achieved a 4-star NABERS rating for energy, reflecting our dedication to energy efficiency and sustainable operations. Our initiatives include advanced energy management systems, optimized lighting solutions, and renewable energy sources.
Heating and cooling
We are proud to say that the heating and cooling of our shopping centre is all-electric. In 2021, we installed 12 Actron Air units, locally designed and manufactured, onto our roof. This fully-electric system ensures energy-efficient climate control.

Lighting
In 2020, we upgraded all lighting to LED lights. We installed 149 new lights externally and 15 internally. Many of our internal lights were already LED. These lights are more energy efficient and have a longer lifespan than other lighting options. Ultimately, this lowers our overall energy use.
Solar panels
In April 2021, Elcon Solar completed the installation of 270 x 370W Longi panels, totaling 99KW, on our roof. This sustainable energy source now powers our common areas. We take pride in the significant reduction of COâ‚‚ emissions achieved through this initiative. You can learn more below.
